Shaping a Healthier Future: SAS MUN 2024 Addresses SDG 3 - Combating World Diseases.

The 2nd St. Andrew’s School Model United Nations Conference wasn’t just another event; it was an eye-opening learning experience that took students beyond the usual classroom setting. Held over three weeks, from the 18th of January to the 6th of February, the conference challenged 60 delegates, each representing a different country, to think deeply about the theme of ‘Combating World Diseases.’

These delegates, working in committees like the Environment, Human Rights, and Economic-Social Committees, came together to draft important resolutions. They discussed how environmental factors can lead to disease outbreaks and suggested ways to address these problems. They also explored the best responses to disease outbreaks and emphasized how important it is for countries to work together to make sure vaccines and treatment are available to everyone.

Throughout the conference, the students showed empathy and open-mindedness. By debating, negotiating, and drafting resolutions, they gained a better understanding of the global fight against diseases and learned how to work together, even when their opinions differed. The resolutions that emerged were impressive and reflected their dedication to tackling these global challenges.
