College lecturers Mr. Ijjojji Nordin and Ms. Siti Kamaliah Azrae guided the students through a diverse collection of artworks, including paintings, sculptures, mixed-media, and realistic drawings. Traditional Japanese techniques, such as sumi-e, highlights the elegance and discipline of Japanese artistry, while Brunei’s heritage was also integrated in some of the artwork collections, particularly batik motifs. These collections provided a fascinating blend of tradition and innovation, helping students appreciate the creativity in both cultures.
A media broadcasting walkthrough led by Mr. Diki Kurniawan gave students insight into filming and editing. This behind-the-scenes look gave students a deeper understanding of media production. Then, Mr. Mohd Effandi introduced them to 3D modeling in Blender, a 3D modeling software, where they explored virtual reality using characters inspired by popular games. Many were inspired to expand their understanding of how technology and art can work together, especially after experiencing Blender’s creative possibilities.
ImageThe FormARTive Art Exhibition and Blender experience offered students a meaningful and engaging learning opportunity, fostering appreciation for both traditional and digital art and the value of cultural exchange. The visit not only encouraged an appreciation for both traditional and digital art forms but also emphasised the importance of cultural exchange and innovation. We extend our thanks to IGS College, Japanesque Enterprise, and the Brunei-Japan Friendship Association for organising this enriching event, which inspired our students and deepened their understanding of cultural connections.
