Humanities Week

Humanities Week was held from 25th June to 29th June 2024, organized by the Humanities Department. The week was titled ‘United Nations’; this United Nations Week, was associated with the Model United Nations Conference that was held in the beginning of the Year. It was celebrated with hope and determination to build a better world of our aspirations. We want our students to commit to a future that lives up to the name of our institution.

Several activities and competitions were organised by the department during the Week:

  1. The Humanities Quiz
    The Humanities Quiz was organized for the four sport houses, consisting of Year 9, Year 10, and Year 11 students, on 25th June 2024. The objectives of this quiz were:
    • to promote general knowledge about the United Nations.
    • to promote teamwork among students.
    The winner of this quiz was Danson (Yellow) House.
  2. Drawing Competition
    The Year 7 Drawing Competition was held on 27th June 2024. Year 7 students took part in the competition, where they had to create drawings based on the theme "United Nations." The objective of this competition was to motivate young artists and help them develop their creative skills.
  3. Cooking Competition
    On 27th June 2024, Year 8 students participated in the Cooking Competition, themed "Noodles of the United Nations." The objectives of this competition were to promote teamwork among participants and to encourage students to develop their culinary skills and creativity in cooking. The winner was the Hollis house Team members, from Year 8; they cooked a Vietnamese dish called the Pho, it was indeed tasty!
  4. Entrepreneurship Fair
    The Entrepreneurship Fair was organized on 29th June 2024 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The fair was inaugurated by the Deputy Principal, Dr. Chong, and a total of 33 stalls were set up in the car park area. It provided a wonderful platform for students to showcase the business skills they learned from their curriculum. They set a variety of food stalls, and it was a treat to the mid noon appetite! The event indeed was a great success.
