Tech Kids Camp is a collaboration between the Authority for Infocommunications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) and the Science, Technology and Environment Partnership (STEP) Centre, Ministry of Education.
A team of 4 upper primary students participated in a 6-day workshop, facilitated by Edu Champ Academy, which introduced them to the basics of ‘Scratch’, a programming language which allows users to create their own interactive stories, video games and animations using code.
At the end of the 6-day workshop, an ICT competition was held where the students were tasked with developing an ICT project in the form of an educational game. The teams then had to pitch their projects to the judging panel, where they were judged on their overall presentation skills, creativity, entertainment value of their education game as well as the extent to which the teams addressed this year’s theme of ‘Green Environment’.
The team won second place with a project entitled “The Plastic Consequences” and received individual trophies, certificates and a cash prize of $300.
