Kindergarten Head’s Update
Welcome to Term 2 !
Welcome back to our staff and pupils. I hope you all had a great break.
The first term was a very busy one for teachers and children when they learned new things about one another and formed friendships in a new environment.
A big thanks to the teachers and assistants for all your hard work in settling the new kids. A fond farewell to Teacher Margaret who has retired and a big welcome to our new teacher Dahliah.
Children learned about the importance of water just before the holidays in Term 1. They will continue to practice simple ways to save water in Term 2. We hope parents will encourage them to do so at home.
K3 children will go on a field trip soon before we celebrate Family Day in May. We will have Take Your Family to School Week from May 7 to May 12. Parents are invited to spend time with the children at school by reading a book, singing a song, making quick and healthy snacks, making a craft or simply playing a game.
Your presence at school is one way to show your love and encouragement. We hope to see you volunteer in the kindergarten. If you have suggestions, questions or comments just let us know, we would love to hear from you.

- GREETINGS & WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL
A blessed New Year 2018 to all parents, staff, teachers, and beloved students. Welcome back to school! I believe everyone had a good holiday and is now refreshed and ready to start the new academic year with renewed determination and commitment.
Personally, I look forward to serve and to lead St. Andrew’s School as the leadership baton was passed on to me from Ms. Jane Keasberry beginning this year. I want to take this opportunity to thank Ms. Jane for her commitment and efforts in bringing this school to where it is now – a school that has proven to be an academic stalwart in the Brunei education scene. We wish Ms. Jane all the best as she moves on into another chapter of her career in the education field.
Let me also take this opportunity to introduce myself: I am a retired Ministry of Education official with 32 years of service in the field of education; amongst them were 10 years as a Deputy Principal in Maktab Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah, Gadong where I also taught A Level Biology, and 7 years as a Principal in Sekolah Menengah Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja, Mentiri. I am married and have one daughter.
It is my aspiration together with my Senior Management Team to foster a stronger collaborative tripartite partnership between parents, teachers and students in our endeavor to give your child/children the best schooling and learning experience. Research showed overwhelmingly clear that when parents play a positive role in their children’s education, students do better in school.
I encourage parents/guardians to be engaged with your child/children’s academic progress by checking on their classwork and homework daily. Please do get in touch with their teachers if you need any assistance or more information regarding your child/children’s progress. You can make appointments to see the teachers by making a phone call to the General Office line at 2222099 or by writing a note in your child’s Students Organiser. Please inform your child to show that note in the Organiser to the Year Teacher.
- NEW CAR PARK – ‘Prince Haji ‘Abdul’ Azim Car Park ‘
St. Andrew’s School has a new and spacious car park named ‘Prince Haji ‘Abdul’ Azim Car Park. The car park was a project of the Parents’ Teachers Association in collaboration with many generous sponsorships in kind from various business firms.
This will definitely help ease the bottle-neck traffic jams on Jalan Haji Basir during the morning, afternoon and evening school rush hours. The car park is officially in use from 2nd January 2018 onwards. Parents are reminded to drop off your child/children inside this car park area instead of at the roadside or in the main school compound. The car park in the main school compound is for Heads of Sections and Departments and certain admin staff only. Lines for the parking lots cannot be drawn on the ground due to the nature of the tar. Parents are advised to park your cars properly and considerately. Car park will be open from 6.15am to 6.30pm on all schooling days.
Due to the prevalent rainy downpour, students are reminded to always bring an umbrella or raincoat to be used when coming from the covered drop off area in the new carpark to the school compound. We apologise that the covered walkway cannot be extended inside the school compound due to the need to comply with the Fire Department building safety requirements.
Looking forward to working together with you. Thank you!
