THE Hopes in the Hoop Team yesterday visited St Andrew’s School as part of their effort in promoting basketball and the approaching 3-on-3 interschool competition, which will be held from June 21 to 30.
The tournament will be held at the Airport Mall and is organised in conjunction with the school’s inter-house sports competition. A press conference was held followed by a basketball clinic.

Joining them in the signing ceremony were Brunei Basketball Association and co-organiser of the Interschool 3-on-3 Streetball Challenge represented by Khoo Eng Cheong, and representing St Andrews’s School as witness of the event was the school’s principal, Jane Keasberry.
During the ceremony, a presentation was also delivered to the students to explain the rationale behind KFC and Fitness Zone’s intention in conducting the 3-on-3 Interschool Streetball Challenge. The objectives of the tournament are to polish and identify the young Bruneian talents, to cultivate and constantly promote a healthy lifestyle through sports to the nation, as well as to enhance family and peer bonding.
The 3-on-3 Interschool Streetball Challenge is open to all government and private secondary schools and higher level education centres in Brunei. The format and rules of the games are same as those that were used during the March season. Schools can send in more than one team of four players to participate in the two categories: Under 18 Male Category and Under 21 Male Category.
Registration fee is B$60 per team and the forms are available at all Fitness Zone outlets and selected KFC outlets namely KFC Airport Mall, KFC The Mall Gadong and KFC Seria.
Deadline for entry form submission is June 10 and must be submitted in the mentioned KFC and Fitness Zone outlets. All jerseys are required to have the school’s name and logo as well as the official KFC Fitness Zone 3-on-3 Streetball Challenge logo on them, which is available for purchase at Imperial Sports, the official sport store of the tournament.
The organisers also highlighted that the student category for the June season will be replaced by the Interschool 3-on-3 Basketball Competition’s two categories mentioned above. The Open Male Category and the Ladies Category remain unaffected.
