NATIONAL/INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONS & ACHIEVEMENTS
In 2017, our students took part in various quiz and competitions organized by government departments and various organisations, locally as well as overseas, and won many prizes, certificates and awards.
1 Peraduan Bicara Berirama 2017 was organized by Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei (TAIB) in conjunction with their 25th Anniversary. We sent a group of 19 students from Yr 9G/B/Y and they were crowned the overall champion by beating SOAS, SMA and SM Sultan Sharif Ali. (TIC : Ckg Hjh Normah, Ckg Siti Adiana & Ckg Noorefizah. Prizes : Cash award $1,000, a trophy and certificates for all the participatants.)
2 Bicara Berirama Sekolah-Sekolah Rendah 2017 sempena sambutan Hari Belia Ke-12 is organized by Co-Curriculum Dept in co-operation with Battle Pro marketing and Management Services . The final was held on 30 Sept at Arena Pentas Festival Belia, Stadium Negara Hassanal Bolkiah. We were the runner-up winning a cash award of $200, $100 tuition voucher each, certificates and trophy for theschool. The team consisted of 20 students (19 from Y4R + 1 Y5Y). TIC : Mdm Chua & Mdm Chong.

7 Game Development online Training and Competition – Anyone can make a game
It is an online training and competition organized by SEAMEO Secretariat, Bangkok held from 10 Feb till 2 June 2017 with 72 submissions from schools in Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand.

8 Mangahigh Mathematics Online Competition 2017
470 students from Y4 – Yr 11 competed in the online competition.
167 students were awarded the gold medals for scoring 200 points and above.
25 students were awarded the silver medals with 150 – 1999 points.
38 students got the bronze medals for scoring 100 – 149 points.
9 PSSO/PSMO/SSMO (STEP Centre)
8.1 IMSO (International Maths & Science Olympiad) 2017
Tong Khai Shuen represented Brunei in the 14th International Mathematics and Science Olympiad (IMSO) 2017 held at NUS High School, Singapore from 20 – 24 Nov 2017.
She obtained a bronze medal (Matematics) and it was the only medal for Brunei.

5.9 DUX of the School
Farah Sabrina binti Mohammad Saiful of Yr 11E is the DUX of the School for 2017. She is a student councilor and an exemplary student who takes initiative and puts in sincere efforts. She is well-mannered, polite, trustworthy, humble, generous and kind-hearted. She is a good team leader who cooperates with others and always tries to do her work with perfection. She is always ready to go the extra mile to help those in need.
5.10 Hwa Chong International School Scholarship 2017
5.10.1 Yeo Yeo Chiew of Yr 11E, Su Yee Shien and Andrew Tiong Jia Siang of Yr 11G were awarded scholarships to continue their studies (2 years) in IB course at Hwa Chong International School in Singapore. The scholarships cover their school fees, food, accommodation and laundry.
5.10.2 Andrew Wong Ling Yung of Yr 11E in 2014 scored 44/45 in his IB Course at Hwa Chong International School. (He was awarded the HCIS scholarship to continue his IB education in Singapore in 2015.)

5.15 Sesi Program Gifted Education
5.15.1 Awang Muhammad Hafiz Muizzuddin bin Hj Hishamuddin of Yr 9G was one of the 6 students selected to represent Brunei in the 6th ASEAN Plus Three Junior Science Odyssey (APT JSO) FPT University, HOA LAC High-Tech Park, Hanoi, Vietnam from 10 to 15 July.
