She also received the school’s certificate of appreciation on behalf of St. Andrew’s School during the opening ceremony on 11 April at the International Convention Centre, making it an unforgettable and prestigious experience.

Fourteen students from St. Andrew’s School participated in the 21st Borneo Global Issues Conference (BGIC 2026), an international Model United Nations organised by International School Brunei, under the supervision of Mr Hj Zulfadhli bin Hj Abdul Rahman and Mrs H Shama Begum.

For SAS students, serving as delegates at BGIC was a highly enriching and rewarding experience. They engaged actively in committee sessions, delivered speeches with confidence, and collaborated effectively to formulate and debate resolutions. Amelia Binoy distinguished herself as the main submitter of a resolution in the Eco-Soc Committee, where her resolution was met with strong support from the committee.

The conference brought together over 300 students from Brunei and Japan and centred on SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, providing a dynamic platform for discussion and collaboration on global challenges. The opening ceremony featured inspiring keynote addresses by renowned environmental scientist and explorer, Tim Jarvis and Acting British High Commissioner Ken O’Flaherty, setting the tone for an engaging and thought-provoking conference.

BGIC 2026 came to a successful close on 13 April 2026 with a closing and awarding ceremony, marking the culmination of a meaningful and impactful journey for all delegates.
